What this site actually does with your data — which is less than most, but not nothing.

Last updated: 2026-07-15

This describes what Artifipedia actually does, not what a template says a website might do. If anything here is inaccurate, that's a bug — email hello@artifipedia.com.

The short version

There are no accounts, so there's nothing to sign up for and no profile to build. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits. It loads fonts from Google, which means Google sees your IP address. It stores four small preferences in your own browser. That's the whole picture.

What's stored in your browser

The site saves four things in your browser's local storage. These stay on your device and are never sent anywhere:

  • afp-theme — whether you chose light or dark mode.
  • afp-bm — any concepts you bookmarked.
  • afp-lv — which reading depth you last used, so the dial remembers.
  • afp-subs — whether you've used the subscribe form.

You can clear all of it any time through your browser settings. Nothing breaks if you do; the site just forgets your preferences.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count how many people visit and which pages they read. This is used to decide what to write next — for example, if nobody reads an entry, that's worth knowing.

Google Analytics sets cookies and collects data including your approximate location (from your IP address), device and browser type, pages viewed, and how you arrived. Google processes this on its own terms. If you'd rather not be counted, browser extensions that block analytics work fine here, and nothing on the site depends on it.

Fonts

The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. This means your browser makes a request to Google's servers, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. This happens on page load and is worth stating plainly, because it's the kind of thing privacy policies usually omit.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare processes requests and keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and operational purposes. This is Cloudflare's processing under its own terms.

The subscribe form

If you enter an email address in the subscribe form, it's used to email you when there's something worth reading, and nothing else. It isn't sold, shared, or added to any other list. To be removed, email hello@artifipedia.com and it's done.

What this site doesn't do

  • No advertising, and no advertising networks.
  • No selling or sharing of anything to anyone.
  • No accounts, no profiles, no login.
  • No tracking pixels beyond the analytics described above.
  • No cross-site tracking by this site.

Children

This site isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Realistically, this site holds almost none — there are no accounts and no database of users. The exceptions are analytics data (held by Google) and your email address if you gave it. For the latter, email hello@artifipedia.com and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this changes, the date at the top changes with it.
