Terms of use

Short, because there isn't much to say.

Using the site

Artifipedia is free to read. There's no account, no subscription, and no paywall. Use it.

The content is educational, not advice

Everything here is written to explain concepts. It isn't professional, legal, financial, or engineering advice, and it isn't a substitute for judgement about your own situation.

The entries take positions — that's deliberate, and it's what makes them useful. But a position is not a guarantee. If an entry says "don't use X here," that's a considered opinion informed by the sources cited, not a warranty. Decisions you make are yours.

Accuracy

Every effort goes into being accurate, and sources are cited so claims can be checked. That said: this is a fast-moving field, entries can go out of date, and mistakes happen.

If you find one, tell me. Corrections are welcome and get made.

Nothing here is guaranteed to be complete, current, or correct.

Using the content

Quoting — quote freely with a link back. That's the whole ask.

Embedding the map — free to embed on any site. There's a button on the map page.

Larger reuse — republishing entries wholesale, training on the corpus, or anything at scale: ask first. The answer is often yes.

Attribution — where content is used, a link to artifipedia.com is expected.

Links elsewhere

Entries cite papers and link to other sites. Those aren't under my control and linking isn't endorsement.

Trademarks

Company and product names mentioned belong to their owners. Mentioning them isn't affiliation or endorsement, in either direction.

No warranty

The site is provided as-is. It might be unavailable, it might have errors, and it isn't promised to be fit for any particular purpose.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for loss arising from use of this site or reliance on its content.

Changes

These terms can change. The date at the top will say when.
